No pushy sales, no pressure—ever. Our staff is salaried, which means any product or service recommendation is made with your curls in mind, not a paycheck.

Can’t get in with your usual stylist? Want to try someone new? Go for it! We encourage it. Everyone here is focused on your results and comfort, not keeping clients “claimed.”

Yukiko 

founder and visionary leader of OlyCurl

Meet Yukiko, founder and visionary leader of OlyCurl.
With a bold mission to bring curly hair care to the forefront, Yukiko has spent over a decade pioneering curl education and awareness in Thurston County and beyond. A Deva-inspired stylist, Head Shape Matters certified, a proud member of Curly Hair Artistry since 2013, and an Associate Trichologist and Hair Loss Practitioner, she has built her expertise with intention, passion, and a drive to empower others.
Yukiko’s leadership shines through in every corner of OlyCurl—from the personalized experience offered to clients, to the mentorship and growth she cultivates within her team. Her love of curls and business is what sparked the creation of OlyCurl, a space where authenticity, education, and creativity flourish.
Outside the salon, Yukiko continues to lead by example, channeling her energy into hands-on hobbies like crocheting, embroidery, and watercolor painting. She finds balance and joy in time with her grandkids, beach walks with her husband and their pup Luna, and in nurturing both people and ideas.

Kelsey

With  four years at OlyCurl and a Gene Juarez Academy grad (class of 2012), Kelsey brings laid-back warmth and deep expertise to every curl she touches. She’s always chasing new techniques to better serve every texture and pattern that lands in her chair.
Rooted in aloha and inspired by nature, Kelsey splits her time between the ocean, the mountains, and her ever-growing collection of houseplants and crystals.
Whether she’s perfecting a curly cut or swapping stories with clients, Kelsey radiates care, curiosity, and island soul. Don’t be shy—say hi! 🤙🏽

Rae

Rae's love for natural hair was born from personal experience—after a harsh relaxer in middle school, she began embracing her curls and found a passion for helping others do the same. Channeling that passion into learning the art of curly hair care--one guest at a time, Rae started off an apprentice who has graduated into a curl certified stylist.
Known for her radiant colorful ’fro and fearless hair color choices, Rae brings warmth, creativity, and authenticity to every interaction. Outside the salon, she loves crocheting, thrifting, cooking flavorful vegetarian meals, and hitting the trails with her beloved Yorkie, Bootsie (who’s been known to charm the salon now and then).

Bri

​​Bri is our apprentice—always ready with a smile and a genuine welcome that instantly makes you feel at home. With a background in Communications, she’s all about creating a smooth, feel-good experience from start to finish (because great hair days start with great vibes!).
When Bri's not making sure everything in the salon runs seamlessly, you’ll catch her exploring Olympia’s local spots, checking out new restaurants, curating playlists, and finding style inspiration wherever she goes. A recent Olympia transplant, she’s loving every bit of discovering her new city—and bringing that same curiosity and energy into the salon every day.

Lydia

Lydia believes that being truly taken care of is the true foundation of beauty. She is a curl specialist with 4 years of experience using dry cutting techniques that enhance natural curl while honoring each client’s unique hair type, lifestyle, and personal style. She is known for a warm presence and refined attention to detail, with a particular love for bangs and softly lived-in looks.
Beyond the chair, she is also a dance instructor - so, when she’s not in the salon you can find her shaking her tail feather, getting some fresh air with her dogs (Jinora & Fenrir), or snuggling up with her cats (Ella, Juniper, Buumi)! 

Shelise

Shelise is a licensed Hair Designer with seven years of experience and a passion for creating confident, healthy curls. She specializes in cutting, styling, coloring, and protective looks, with experience across a wide range of textures. Shelise is excited to continue growing her expertise in textured hair at OlyCurl and to give each client focused, curl-loving care.
Outside the salon, she enjoys quality time with family, puzzles, creative projects, baking, binge watching her favorite tv shows, and cozy game nights. Quality Time is her love language. :)

Alyssa

​Alyssa is our evening ray of sunshine, greeting every guest with warmth and an easy smile. She has a knack for making people feel instantly at home—often with the sweet aroma of her latest baked creation drifting from the break room.
A free spirit with a curious heart, Alyssa follows the wind wherever it leads. She’s lived in four states before settling here in Washington, collecting stories, friendships, and a few good recipes along the way. Never one to stay strictly on the yellow brick road, she’s happily wandered down many paths of curiosity—whether that’s exploring the outdoors, spinning her favorite vinyls, or trying a new dish in the kitchen.
What she loves most about her role is the connection—getting to hear the stories, laughter, and perspectives of a new community. For Alyssa, each day at the salon feels like another chapter in a colorful adventure—and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Stephanie

Morning Receptionist

Originally from the Four Corners area, Steph fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and decided to make Olympia her home, ultimately joining our team in January. She’s drawn to the area’s sense of community, creativity, and access to the outdoors, and enjoys being part of a place that values connection and care.
Outside of work, Steph can usually be found bouncing between a volleyball court, a concert, a thrift shop aisle, or a quiet nature trail. She loves getting lost in poetry—finding meaning in small lines and even smaller moments—and brings that same thoughtfulness and curiosity into her work.
